OUR COMMITTEES

Church Committees at St. Andrews United Church play an important role and are made up of many dedicated church Members.

Outreach

Outreach

We believe that as the body of Christ in this world we are called to serve just as Christ would. We seek to address the needs in or community as well as nationally and globally. Currently, St. Andrew’s hosts a monthly Neighbourhood Dinner from September to May. We also host a Spring and Fall Garage Sale every year. In November, we will celebrate the 4th anniversary of the arrival of our sponsored family of 6 from Myanmar, which we continue to mentor.

Property

Property

On behalf of the Trustees and the congregation of St. Andrew’s, this team oversees the maintenance, upkeep, insurance and usage of all church properties, including land, buildings and their contents.

They oversee the arrangements for various groups that share in the use of our church facilities.
Worship

Worship

The Worship Committee provides support for both the Minister (including substitute Ministers/Guest Leaders) and for the Music Director by co-ordinating and overseeing all aspects of the worship experience to ensure an inspiring, meaningful and creative environment and service. The team also acts as a liaison between the congregation and the worship leaders by recruiting volunteers for Sunday worship (i.e. Scripture readers), Communion, Baptism, weddings and funerals.
United Church Women

United Church Women

The UCW’s mission is to love God; foster Christian commitment, faithfulness, and spirituality; and promote respect and love for all God’s creation.

Any woman “willing to contribute her prayers, gifts, and services for the work of the Church” can join the United Church Women (UCW). Membership provides the important networking and social opportunities that lead to life-long friendships.

Led by co-presidents Lynne Haldenby and Jane Turgeon, St. Andrew’s two Units (5 and 77) work tirelessly on the Annual Christmas Bazaar, the Out of the Attic Vintage Sales as well as preparing pies and scones for sale.
Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care

In partnership with our minister, the pastoral visitors maintain contact with members and adherents of the congregation who are unable to attend Sunday services, or who are going through difficult times. The committee encourages and supports home, hospital, and institutional visitation, telephone visits, and offers personal and spiritual support as we are able.

Faith Formations

Faith Formations

This is a committee that oversees the nurture and spiritual/faith development of members of St. Andrew’s United Church for all ages but especially children and youth. It organizes and administers programs such as Sunday School, Youth group, Bible study and other programming at St. Andrew’s. It also supports leadership training for those providing such programs.
Finance and Administration

Finance and Administration

The purpose of the Finance Committee is to oversee the financial affairs of the Pastoral charge, including budget preparation, monthly financial reports to Church Council and timely Congregational updates. They are responsible for ensuring the provision of reviewed financial statements to the Annual Meeting as well as the completion of the Annual Charity return as required by the Canada Revenue Agency.
Membership and Congregational Life

Membership and Congregational Life

Everyone knows church life revolves around nourishment, and that is one of the jobs of the membership and congregational life committee. We are the organizers of many events throughout the year including the Sunday church refreshment time after worship, Birthday cakes, Rally Sunday BBQ… the list can go on.

This is the committee that is responsible for the welcoming of new members, the maintenance of the Church Roll of membership, the encouragement of participation and involvement in the life and work of the congregation. We are here to build, strengthen and to promote a healthy life in our congregation.
Communication and Technology

Communication and Technology

The Communication Committee at St. Andrew’s United Church is a committed group who look after everything from our outdoor message board to the sound system in the Sanctuary to managing the new church website.

The outdoor message board allows us to let all who pass by the church what is happening at the church as well as time of the weekly worship service. Inspirational messages are also added to the sign every few weeks.

Members of the Communication Committee recognize too, the importance of having a well-functioning sound system so that all can enjoy both the word and music that feeds our soul. We are grateful to the committee members who work on ever-improving the sound system.
Ministry and Personnel Committee

Ministry and Personnel Committee

The Ministry and Personnel Committee is the only mandatory committee of the governing body of a pastoral charge.
